TROPICAL STORM NATE HITS US GULF COAST
After leaving destruction in Central America, tropical storm Nate quickly moving from the US Gulf Coast early Sunday. Nate made landfall twice as a powerful hurricane with widespread flooding and power outages. Nate is the third hurricane to hit the region in less than two months during this hurricane season.
There are more than 100,000 people affected and without electric power. Officials urged residents to evacuate areas vulnerable before the storm first made landfall on the southeastern tip of Louisiana on Saturday evening. Nate later hit along the Mississippi coast.
The storm had winds of 70 miles per hour according to the National Hurricane Center. In addition, the combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. Read More>>
